Essential kitchen tools

Do you know what makes cooking every day a breeze? Some essential kitchen tools that ease your work. Cooking your own food is one life skill that everyone should know. It doesn’t matter if you are old, young, man, woman, kid, doctor, teacher, or whoever, it’s really no use if you can’t even feed yourself. Whether you enjoy cooking like me, are an occasional member of the kitchen club, or do it out of necessity, you need good kitchen essentials (read: tools) to help you.

When I moved into my own apartment, 7 years back, all my kitchen had was a wok, two serving plates, an induction hot plate, and a few spoons. I could cook but I didn’t even realize that cooking is made possible by the various tools we have at our disposal and I won’t be able to whip up even a simple, decent meal without these essential kitchen tools. It’s now, 7 years later that I can say I have been able to collect the cooking tools that not only (look fancy) come in handy but actually help me cook my food faster, tastier, and more efficiently.

Essential kitchen tools you need for cooking a scrumptious meal –

Lodge cast iron griddle and skillet

I switched to cast iron griddle and skillet almost two years back and I am never going back to non-stick or steel. The main reason would be how well cast irons conduct heat and just the overall versatility of the product. You can practically cook anything in them. The one thing to keep in mind is that cast iron cookware needs to be seasoned well before use in order to prevent food from sticking to the base as well as avoid rust.

Waffle Maker

If you are a waffle fan like me, you need this mini waffle maker in your kitchen. Perfect for whipping up tiny waffles for a cute Sunday brunch or thin waffle cones for a dessert after dinner, this mini waffle maker is one of my most used kitchen tools. Note that it makes one small waffle at a time.

Hand mixer with case

From churning yogurt to make mango lassi, to using it to whip eggs for the most scrumptious omelet to just mixing cake batter and anything in general, an electric hand mixer is a gift in the kitchen. I use it almost daily to mix anything and it’s so much easier to do than mixing anything manually. The case helps keep everything together, safe, and clean!

Small Garlic Chopper

Another one of the essential kitchen tools that I swear by is this tiny garlic chopper. I hate the smell of garlic on my hands (who doesn’t) and while there are many ways in which you can get rid of the smell, this garlic chopper is actually handier (see what I did there?) Anyway, you can also use it for ginger, green chilies, etc. Another good thing? You can store your chopped garlic in this!

Sandwich and panini maker

Making breakfast has so easy thanks to my Brentwood Panini and Sandwich Press. Now, I don’t have to worry about cooking them on a griddle and ensuring they don’t turn soggy or soft. My panini maker has been going strong for the past 6 years! All I do is wipe it down with a wet paper towel after each use and it becomes as good as new. It’s non-stick which means no sticking or scraping!

Cutting boards

One of the most essential kitchen tools is a good set of cutting boards. They make cutting and chopping fruits, vegetables, and meats so easy. I prefer using bamboo chopping boards for my regular chopping but switch to . It’s always a good idea to have both sets at home since bamboo chopping boards are lightweight and eco-friendly. Plastic chopping boards are good for meat since they prevent cross-contamination, are better for your meat knives, and can be easily sanitized in a dishwasher.

Knife set

Good knives, I feel, are your best friend in the kitchen. A good knife is needed to have better control, avoid slippage, make clean cuts, and stay safe (not cut your hand in the process!) A good knife can actually make your whole cooking experience better and more fun. Why? Because a good knife will make a process as tedious as cutting and chopping faster and more efficient! If you don’t need anything fancy, !

Tea Pot

If you are a tea lover like me, this teapot is sure to become your new BFF. It holds up to 5 cups of tea, keeps the tea warm, is sturdy, and doesn’t appear cheap or fragile, and the strainer has a thin mesh to ensure tea leaves or powder doesn’t pass into the tea. Oh, and the pot is top-rack dishwasher safe! What more can we ask for, right?

Instant pot with an Air Fryer

As the name suggests the Instant Pot with an Air Fryer is everything in one – you can sauté, steam, pressure cook, broil, bake, etc. What I absolutely love, and I am sure you would to is how much cooking time an instant pot reduces! Plus I love that I can put the timer on for cooking meals so I don’t have to worry about turning the stove off, especially when I am working or in a meeting!

KitchenAid chopper and puree

Chopping onions make you cry? Carrots slip out of hand as you try to chop them into tiny pieces? Well, you aren’t alone. After struggling for years trying to chop vegetables neatly and quickly, I discovered this KitchenAid chopper that makes the whole task seem like a dream! Not only that, it is perfect to turn veggies into a puree – especially if you like chunkier purees or prepare salsa, dips, salad dressings, etc.

So there you go. That’s the list of my favorite kitchen tools that I find absolutely necessary. I have some more essential if you’d like to take a look. Are there any essential kitchen tools that you can’t do without? Let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to pin this post!
