Sunscreens that don't leave a white cast are God sent, aren't they?
One of the first skincare products that I ever religiously started using is sunscreen. Somedays I skip a moisturizer or serum but never my sunscreen. Sunscreen plays a very important role in your skin’s health. While it prevents your skin from sunburn, it also helps avoid premature aging, keeps your skin safe from cancer-causing rays, etc. Any doubts about wearing sunscreen every day have been put to rest by dermatologists across the globe. Finding a good sunscreen with high SPF is important but the problem now is to find sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast.
So, why do some sunscreens leave a white cast? Some sunscreens, also known as sunblocks do not get absorbed into the skin. Instead, they sit on your skin as a layer to help deflect any sun’s rays that reach your skin’s surface. These sunscreens/sunblocks leave a white cast because of the ingredients that make them form a layer. While it is possible to avoid white cast, there are good and effective options for sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast.
Note- It is equally important for men to use sunscreen! While sunscreens with the white cast are irritating for both men and women, I have seen men struggle more with the white cast because it becomes irritatingly difficult to remove the white cast or flashbacks on faces with stubble, mustaches, or beard! Luckily, this list below can be as easily used by men as by women!
Here are my favorite sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast –
Biotique Bio Sandalwood SPF 50
If there is a sunscreen I have probably been using for the past 10 years, . It is on top of my list of sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast because not only is it lightweight, it is also very easily spreadable, doesn’t feel sticky and of course, no white cast. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin but the formula for this sunscreen is so good – it doesn’t block my pores and sits beautifully under makeup!
Tory Burch x Shiseido Sunscreen Stick SPF 50
Sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast and can be used over makeup? Yes, please. This Tory Burch X these past couple of months. It is clear, non-sticky, no white cast, and you can easily use it over your makeup without disturbing it! What more can you ask for.
CLINIQUE Pep-Start Daily UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 50
One of my favorite skincare brands is Clinique. Why I like this brand is because almost their entire range works for my sensitive skin. And, same goes for their which is a great SPF that also preps your skin – I find it to be a great base for my makeup. Just a word of caution, this SPF has a slight tint to it which doesn’t really change my skin tone really, but important to call especially if men want to use it.
ETUDE HOUSE Sunprise SPF 50
Another favorite sunscreen is this . I was looking for sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast and found this on Amazon with so many good reviews. Luckily, it didn’t disappoint. What I love is it completely melts into my skin without actually sinking into my pores. It does have a slight matte finish to it but I don’t mind it because that works for very hot, summer days.
All the four sunscreens that I have mentioned above have been tried and tested by me. In fact, these are also a part of my current skincare routine. I switch between them regularly depending upon my mood! All four of them keep my skin happy both at home and on the go days!
